Mission Statement:
The Mission of the Greenville Fire Department is to protect the citizens of the City of Greenville and their property from the ravages of fires and explosions, the threat of hazardous material releases and any other emergencies or disasters, manmade or natural, that pose a threat to their health, welfare, and safety in cooperation with other emergency response agencies where and when assistance may be needed.

Purpose for Existence - We believe that the all pervasive reason for our existence is to provide quality fire protection and support to our city. We are people serving people; people providing public safety for the health and welfare of the community.

Community Image - We will conduct ourselves and the affairs of the fire department so as to elicit respect from the citizens of our community. We adhere to an image of being a positive, progressive and professional organization. We adhere to the highest ethical standards for the husbandry of the public funding for all services provided.

Strategy and Operations - We will continually appraise and update our goals, action plans and long range plan to be responsive to changing environmental situations and conditions as well as technological advances. Our planning processes will be conducted in a manner consistent with good managerial practices and action will be taken in the best interest of the Greenville Fire Department and the City of Greenville.

Human Resources - The most important resource in the Greenville Fire Department is it=s employees. We believe in recognizing the dignity of human endeavor, in being responsive to the values, rights and needs of every employee and providing an environment in which employees may achieve their potential. We will obtain and sustain an adequate number of competent, productive employees and use them effectively and efficiently in achieving city and fire department objectives. We will foster positive, open relationships and promote a safe and healthful work environment for all employees.

Finance and Revenue - We will conduct the financial affairs of the Greenville Fire Department in a responsible manner. We will develop and implement courses of action which allow us to provide top quality services while at the same time minimize the tax burden to the community. We will operate the fire department in a manner assuring cost-effective decision making consistent with sound accounting and financial practices.

Facilities and Equipment - We will constantly work toward improving the way we meet the fire protection needs of the community. We will plan, purchase, construct, manage, and operate our facilities in a cost efficient and effective manner.
