Communications Center

The Greenville Police Department Communications Center provides high quality public safety dispatching for police, fire and emergency medical service. This is accomplished by maintaining modern and up to date communications, CAD and 911 systems, and by outstanding cooperation between our police, fire and emergency medical services. Our dispatchers are trained to handle any situation from life threatening emergencies to simple questions in a calm professional manner.

Dispatchers are trained in a number of technical areas. In addition to handling normal dispatching functions, dispatchers utilize the Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) computer. This computer is linked to the National Crime Information Center or NCIC. Greenville Police and Fire dispatchers are also trained in Emergency Medical Dispatching, which qualifies them to give pre-arrival medical instruction to callers. This information can mean the difference between life and death.
